4-Month Qualification Course

The 4-Month Qualification Course is an English-language, full-time residential course representing the most extensive training in the area of civil conflict transformation in Germany. The prime objective of the course is to prepare participants for work in fields requiring civil conflict resolution know-how.

The course imparts basic skills and know-how in the following areas: Selected aspects of peace and conflict theory, fields of action of the Civil Peace Service, conflict analysis tools, tools and methods of conflict resolution on various levels, team and communication skills, project management and impact analysis, strengthening consulting skills, resource management and self-management.

The course also includes a two-week Field Visit in a Civil Peace Service project or a peace building project. The certificate Peace and Conflict Consultant is awarded upon successful completion of the Qualification Course.

Elegibility requirements:

  • A vocational/academic qualification and/or relevant life or work
    experience (e.g. development or civil society related work,
    gender-specific or intercultural background, youth or social work);
  • At least 6 months experience of living and working abroad;
  • Minimum age: 28 years (exceptions are possible);
  • Intention to work abroad within the framework of the Civil Peace
    Service (Ziviler Friedensdienst, ZFD) or related fields of work;
  • Ability to respect others’ perspectives and positions and the ability
    to act in a solution-orientated and problem-oriented manner;
  • Openness to role-specific reflections and personal processes of change; willingness for self-reflection;
  • Readiness to take responsibility for your own and the group's
    learning process by contributing actively and taking on the role of a
    tutor.

Course Dates:

4-Month Course 2011 (English): Tue, 01.02. to Fri, 27.05.2010


Application Process:
 

  1. Application: Please apply online. (Final deadline is 26 September 2010)
  2. Assesssment: If your application meets the required criteria, the Academy will invite ou to a one-day assessment. (Assessment for Qualification courses are from 25 to 26 October 2010 - please reserve these dates if possible)
  3. Selection:Successful candidates will be invited to participate in our course (at least 8 weeks before the coruse begins).
  4. Admission: One week after the invitation, applicants need to agree on the conditions for participation and return the signed contract.
