Process Indicators
Process Indicators: Specific interim steps / Milestones I
With regard to the continuing violence, the vision of the future described the following impact: "In the villages around XY there haven't been any violent confrontations for several years. ... Families that were victims of violence have received compensation as part of a reconciliation process that was agreed upon by both victims and perpetrators."
Now the project tries to develop its contribution towards this. They proceed step-by-step and try to think up a new process which could be used in particular to persuade one new key actor not to resort to violence and to acknowledge their responsibility for the violence they already committed.
What would need to change, for example, for a group of young men grouping together as a gang to stop using violence and even to declare themselves willing to meet up with their victims? (What would they have to do - outcome?) What results does the project need to achieve? (performance - output) How can we recognise if this process has helped to bring things in the right direction? (process indicators / interim steps)
- Answer a) is correct because we can assume that after taking part in that seminar they won't be as violent as before.
- Answer b) is correct since the project activities will somehow lead to a reduction in violence and this is then something that can be observed easily.
- Answer c) is correct because the willingness to talk is an important step and, in fact, we still don't really know exactly why the young men are so violent.
