Norbert Ropers is director of the Berghof Foundation for Peace Support (BPS) in Berlin (Germany). He has been the founder of the Berghof Research Center for Constructive Conflict Management in 1993 and served as its director till 2004. From 2001 to 2008 he headed a comprehensive programme on conflict transformation and peacebuilding in Sri Lanka. Before that he worked on peace, security, development and global issues at the Institute for Development and Peace (University of Duisburg), the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House, London), and the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF). As a practitioner he has a background in adult education and intercultural communication, served as head of the Academy of the Gustav-Stresemann-Institute in Bonn and initiated a pan-European youth exchange consulting organization. His current practical focus is on dialogue facilitation, peace mediation and systemic approaches to conflict transformation with a particular interest in South and Southeast Asia.

Norbert Ropers ist der Direktor der Berghof Foundation Peace Support in Berlin. 1993 gründete er das Berghof Research Center for Constructive Conflict Management und leitete es bis zum Jahr 2004. Von 2001 bis 2008 leitete er ein umfangreiches Programm für Konflikttransformation und Friedensbildung in Sri Lanka. Davor arbeitete er an der Universität Duisburg am Institut für Entwicklung und Frieden, am Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House, London) und am Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) in den Bereichen Frieden, Sicherheit, Entwicklung und globale Themen. Zudem war er in den Bereichen Erwachsenenbildung und interkulturelle Kommunikation und als Leiter des Gustav-Stresemann-Institut in Bonn tätig. Er initiierte außerdem eine Beratungsorganisation für europaweiten Jugendaustausch. Sein derzeitiger Fokus liegt auf den Bereichen Dialogförderung, Friedensmediation und dem sytsemische Ansatz zur Konflikttransformation mit einem Interesse an Süden und Südosten Asiens.
