Profile:
Marijana Toma is working as Serbia Programme Coordinator in Impunity Watch, an international non-profit group, seeking to promote accountability for past atrocities in countries emerging from a violent past, with programmes in Guatemala and Serbia. A historian by training, she has been involved in numerous transitional justice projects in the region and internationally. Prior to joining Impunity Watch, she worked for the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Mission in Serbia on legal labour migration projects, and the Humanitarian Law Centre, leading human rights organization in Balkans, where she worked as Project and Programme Coordinator on documenting war crimes, oral history, forced disappearances and transitional justice. She also worked on several projects with the International Centre for Transitional Justice (ICTJ), while studying for an MPhil in transitional justice at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Ms Toma has published extensively in the fields of transitional justice, truth commissions, history, oral history methodology and serious human rights violations.
