Creative Techniques for Conflict Transformation 1 2018
In the midst of a conflict, it can often seem as if there is no way out when familiar methods become futile. Experiences of violence and injury are often particularly difficult to comprehend, let alone put into words. We feel numb and powerless, and other points of view may initially seem inconceivable. It is precisely here that a key function of conflict transformation becomes to actively stimulate creativity. Creativity can foster the rediscovery of our own capabilities and the faith we have in ourselves. This can enable those affected to communicate their individual and collective histories and thus create spaces in which new perspectives can evolve.
This seminar, led by the Lalish Theater Labor, works with performance theater as a tool for exploring individual and collective awareness and expression, and draws the link between this practive and conflict transformation. This kind of experiential and experimental theater sets the ground for working with a variety of voice and body techniques, mostly coming from the East and North Anatolian culture of ritual and performance. As a participant, you will familiarize yourself with creative tools for conflict work and experience the potential of creative expression. A fully practical seminar in which your own creative potential and that of the group will be the main agents.
- Appreciation of your own potential to support creative- transformative processes
- Facilitation of dialogue and reflection through art
- Techniques for developing (self-)confidence and "safe spaces"
- Work with diverse groups (cultural diversity, gender, age, etc.)
