This course focuses on the connections between environment, climate change, peace, and conflict. It is designed to give participants the practical tools and knowledge to understand how environmental issues influence conflicts. Further, we will explore local situations and solutions that could be integrated into the peacebuilding work.
Participants will discuss key topics such as climate-induced migration, environmental justice, and the role of environmental defenders. The training will provide practical approaches to conflict analysis with an environmental focus and real-life examples from professionals working on gender, peace, and climate issues.
Providing peacebuilders with the skills to identify environmental risks is essential for the prevention, management, and transformation of conflicts. That is why we invite you to join and discover how nature can be a critical element of the peacebuilding world.
This training will use non-formal education methods. This is a combination of interactive and practical learning tools, including personalized learning, storytelling, group work, and hands-on activities like case studies and local assessments.
Together participants will share personal and professional experiences in the topic of the training while exploring interactive tools such as Miro, Menti or Padlet to support collaboration and learning.
This approach focuses on addressing participants’ needs while creating a space for critical thinking and practical application of peacebuilding and environmental theory and tools.
In the course, participants use a variety of tools, including a digital learning platform, a video conferencing tool, and an online whiteboard. Participants should therefore have a good internet connection (1 Mbit down/upload or better). A headset is highly recommended.
