Florina Xavier holds a PhD in Social Work and two Masters one in Conflict Transformation from EMU, USA and one in Social Work from Madras University. A Fulbright Scholar and an Oxford Fellow, she has constantly combined theory and praxis in her professional and academic journey. Her area of focus is peacebuilding and she has worked with refugees for several years.
Currently she works as the Regional Return and Reintegration Advisor for Act for Peace in Sri Lanka and India. Her previous assignments were in Afghanistan on a UNICEF project, Kyrgyzstan with UNHCR and with non-profits and academics in India.
As a consultant, she has led mediation and trauma healing trainings, conducted M&E workshops, for several peacebuilding and faith-based organisations aound the world. She teaches two courses every year on peace building and trauma healing in India and the Philippines.
